Our History
Serving Our Community Since 1935!
A History of Service
The Sanford Lions Club was organized and chartered in 1935 with 20 members. The Club has sponsored other clubs: Pittsboro (1937); Apex (1937); Biscoe (1928); Siler City ( 1938); Aberdeen (1938); Broadway (1950); Coats (1972); Western Harnett (1998); Sanford Day Timers Branch Lions Club (2005) and Sanford Leo Club (2007). The Club in 2007 has grown to become the largest Lions Club in North Carolina.
We are part of the world's largest service club organization. Whenever our club gets together, problems get smaller and our community gets better. That's because we help where help is needed, in our own communities and around the world, with unmatched integrity and energy.
- We are the largest local civic club of active members serving the community.
- We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays every month, weather permitting.
- We also maintain Sanford Lions Charitable Works, a 501(c)(3) organization, to accept tax-deductible gifts that are used to benefit our scholarship recipients and our social programs.
- Memorials are also received for deceased Lions.
